FAQs

What’s the dress code?

Friday and Sunday will be very casual; bring comfortable shoes, a jacket, sunscreen, and anything else you might need for outdoor adventures.

The ceremony and reception dress code is semi-formal; we look forward to seeing you in your brightest and most sparkly attire. Please note we’ll be outside, so a flat shoe is recommended, and please secure your glitter adequately to prevent adding microplastics to the watershed.

When should I RSVP by?

You can RSVP as soon as you know whether you’re joining us! Please RSVP by April 15th at the latest. Unfortunately, if you have not RSVP'd by this date, we will mark you as declined.

Can I bring a date/plus one?

Yes; please list your plus-one’s name and details on the RSVP form.

Are kids welcome?

Yes, kids are welcome. Please let us know if you are planning on bringing children on the RSVP form. Also, keep in mind that we’ll be in the outdoors with potential dangers for kiddos (there’s open access to the lake and hiking trails, and critters abound) - so please keep an eye on kids while you’re here, and we urge you to consider ahead of time whether they might be safer and happier at home.

Are pets welcome?

Unfortunately not, but they will be missed! The area has bears and other hazards, and we don’t want to see anyone’s buddy injured or lost.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

All group events for the weekend are outdoors.

What are the COVID protocols?

We are committed to our protecting our community from COVID and other communicable illness. We ask that you take a COVID test 3 days before the wedding, as well as the morning of the wedding. We will have tests and masks available for people who need them and have forgotten to bring their own.

If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend to keep everyone safe; we look forward to celebrating with you at a later date.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

We prefer an "unplugged," or phones-down ceremony so that you can be present with us. We will have a photographer capturing important moments.

Will there be cell service?

There is minimal to no cell reception on-site. Wi-fi is available at the Lodge in the restaurant/lobby/store area if you need to check your email or call home.

What should I do if I have dietary restrictions?

Throughout the weekend we'll have gluten-free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan options. Please respond with your specific food preferences when you RSVP, and make sure to note any additional special dietary restrictions so we can make sure your needs are accommodated.

What should I do if I have mobility limitations or other access needs?

Please list any specific needs in the RSVP form so we can make sure to accommodate them!

Please note that some of the cabins available are ADA accessible; others are not (2-3 steps to the front entrance). The hotel rooms at the Lodge are unfortunately not accessible. The common areas at the Lodge, including the restaurant, lobby, and general store are fully accessible (ramp, handrails).

Can I touch the chipmunks running around?

No! The chipmunks in Tahoe are extremely cute, but known to carry the plague.

I’m an indoor cat, what can I do in the area?

Thanks for joining us even though this is not your preferred environment! We appreciate you.
The cabins are cozy and there are lots of nice places to sit and read by the water.

Why is this Eli’s favorite biome?

Eli has spent the past 5+ years backpacking the Tahoe Rim Trail / PCT Sections I thru K and fell in love with the Tahoe biome and flora/fauna. The TRT / PCT passes right by Kit Carson Lodge at Carson Pass, which makes the location extra special for us.

What’s the weather like mid-June?

Expect sunny, dry weather with a high temperature of 75ish and lows of about 40 at night.
