Kit Carson Lodge is a remote 100-year-old summer resort located on the shores of beautiful Silver Lake. It is about a 3-hour drive from San Francisco and 45 minutes from South Lake Tahoe. The closest airports are Reno (RNO, 1.5 hours away), Sacramento (SMF, 2 hours away), and San Francisco and Oakland (SFO / OAK, 3 hours away).
We will be staying on-site and encourage you to join us on-site or nearby to keep the celebrations going all weekend! On-site accommodation options include multi-room cedar cabins for 2-8 people; hotel rooms at the Lodge; and tent camping. On-site options are limited, so please RSVP ASAP if you’d like to stay on-site in a cabin or lodge room!
If you are planning on staying off-site, hotels are also available in nearby Kirkwood, Hope Valley / Markleeville area, and South Lake Tahoe.

The Lodge offers a few hotel rooms that vary in size and can accommodate 2 or 3 people. They include a private bathroom/shower and towels/linens but do not have a kitchen. Note: hotel rooms are not ADA accessible, and children under 10 are not allowed in these rooms.

Tent camping is available at Silver Lake East and Silver Lake West Campgrounds, right down the road from Kit Carson Lodge, as well as a variety of other campgrounds in the area (see map below). The cost to book a campsite is approximately $35/night. Most of these campgrounds are first-come-first-served; if you are arriving later and would prefer to reserve a campsite ahead of time, there are reservation campsites available at Plasse’s Resort (about 3 miles away) or Bear River Lake Resort (about 15 miles away). If you’d like to reserve a campsite we recommend booking early because the lake is popular in the summer!
If you'd like to tent camp and are traveling from out of town or do not have easy access to camping equipment, let us know by filling out the RSVP form and we'll connect you with options to borrow or rent equipment.

Cedar cabins vary in size, are ADA accessible, and can accommodate 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 8 people. Cost ranges from $25-60/night per person depending on the size of the cabin. Cabins include a full kitchen, charcoal grill, wood-burning stove, private bathroom/shower, and towels/linens. Larger shareable cabins have several private rooms and a shared common area.
